push yourelf beyond your limits Actually there are two challenges. The first is being harnessed 1,168ft away from the ground and walking around the outside of the CN tower. The second challenge is to raise at least $1,500 that will go towards digging wells and building sanitation systems in developing countries through the Islamic Relief Water & Wells Project.
What is the challenge?

The EdgeWalk experience begins on the ground level of the CN Tower at base camp. Once in the CN Tower’s main entrance, signage will direct Walkers through the retail store to the EdgeWalk entrance.
The Walk itself starts and ends on the south side of the main Tower pod, above the 360 Restaurant. The whole experience is 1.5 hour long with a 20-30 minute outdoor walk. Your ticket will include a keepsake video, photos, certificate of achievement and re-entry to CN Tower with a Total Tower Experience. You will be provided with a special Walk suit and you should wear fully enclosed athletic footwear such as running shoes with laces (not Velcro fasteners). Nonslip rubber soled enclosed shoes will be provided if the appropriate footwear is not worn. Prior to participating in EdgeWalk, walkers will be subject to screenings for narcotics, explosives and alcohol consumption. Walkers will also be subject to metal detection and physical pat down to remove all fall hazards. The only allowable personal article (other than clothing) on the EdgeWalk are eyeglasses. Other personal items such as cameras are not permitted on the Walk. Lockers are provided to store personal belongings. Walk leaders are equipped with digital cameras and all Walkers receive a complimentary video and photo of their experience.
The Cause |Water for life

As you are reading this, a child is dying every 25 seconds from drinking dirty water.
According to UNICEF, this totals to 4200 children dying every day from water related diseases. But YOU can help. The money you raise will be used to fund the Islamic Relief Water and Wells Project. This project focuses on digging wells, building sanitation programs and water supply systems, harvesting rain water and creating innovative solutions such as wind and solar powered water pumps. In addition, Islamic Relief also provides basic hygiene training and education to thousands of beneficiaries in the world’s most impoverished regions.
Taking on this challenge will save lives - take it on and make a difference.
Fundraising - or FUN Raising!

“I like the challenge and the cause...now how am I going to raise the money?”
Well, it is actually a lot easier than you think. Here are a few ideas that will help you raise the amount needed:
e-fundraising
When fundraising, you can use the EdgeWalk link on our http://www.islamicreliefcanada.org/ website. You can upload your picture on the website as a participant. When your friends, family and whoever wants to pledge you click on your picture, they will be directed to the donation page. Please ask them to mention your name in the comments section.

Tell everyone you know
Email your family, friends and colleagues but don't forget other groups of potential supporters: former colleagues, old school and college friends, and Facebook Friends. You may be surprised how many would like to sponsor you. Encourage them all to pass on the message to anyone else who might support Islamic Reliefs work.
Also think of those people living in different parts of the Canada or abroad. The Internet is global — so make the most of it!
Contact your local media
Publicity in the local media can be an invaluable fundraising tool. A few lines in the local paper, or an appeal for sponsorship on your local radio station, can yield amazing results.
Facebook/Twitter
Post updates on your progress and let people know how much you've raised so far.
Change your email signature at work and/or at home – update your status!
After your name and title etc, add a line at the bottom about the challenge. This will raise awareness of your event and ensure every email you send has the potential to prompt a donation. Regularly update your Facebook status to keep your cause fresh in your friends mind.
Communicate what a donation will buy
Let your supporters know what their donation will buy for Islamic Relief. It is more compelling to tell someone that $50 will support an orphan for a month, or a $160 will purify water for an entire village than it is to keep a generic cause. And the best part is that they will get a tax reciept for their donation.
Put a notice up in your gym, mosque, college, children's school, etc.
Don't just rely on email. A simple poster asking people to visit your fundraising page can reach people whose email address you don't have. You might also consider printing some flyers/cards to hand out to people when you see them.
Ask to be on your company's website and explore match giving!
See if your company would be prepared to add your web address to its public website or private intranet. Many companies like to promote the charitable and public-spirited efforts of their staff and you could get a lot of extra donations from this. Some companies may even offer a "matched giving" scheme where they offer to match any amounts you have raised, so this action could help you reach your target even faster.
Other Ideas
Fundraising should be renamed fundraising. Many of our past challengers have had a great time fundraising, here we share just a few of their ideas, but let your imagination fly and be creative.

Fundraising dinners
One challenger from Mississauga approached a restaurant, asked how much it would cost to have a set meal for 15 people. After explaining the restaurateur that he was fundraising for charity he was given a figure of $8 a head. The challenger then invited 15 of his friends for a restaurant meal charging $ 40 per head. He repeated this four times making a total of $1,920 for the cause.
Costume car wash
A challenger asked his friends to dress up as comic book heroes and using his fathers’ garage forecourt invited motorist to treat their car to a superhero car wash for charity. He charged each car $8 and invited them to make a donation eight hours later he’d made just under $1280 for the cause.
Only Smarties have answer!!
One challenger bought 20 tubes of Smarties and gave them to 20 of her friends. Her only condition to her friends was once they’d enjoyed the Smarties they return the tubes back to her filled with as many $1 coins as they could collect in a week. She made well over $320, not bad for a $12 investment!
