The Marketing department is IRC’s brand protector. They promote IRC and its work through the website, social media, media production and digital marketing. They research and identify IRC’s audience and target marketing efforts to reach the right people with the right message. They develop and implement marketing and digital strategies to meet IRC’s objectives through raising funds online



This role is responsible for understanding our audience and engaging with our donors and followers in unique and exciting ways. This role will work closely with the Marketing team to execute our social media strategy, plan our content calendar, and increase our brand awareness. This role also collaborates with other departments to ensure Islamic Relief Canada has a dynamic donor relations strategy and is engaging our target audience in creative ways.

The candidate must be a people’s person, enjoy using social media and building relationships with various stakeholders (followers, donors, organizations, influencers, and volunteers). They must bring creative energy and passion to a collaborative team environment. We’re looking for someone who enjoys developing and implementing ideas for social media and community engagement, to increase brand awareness and engagement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement and manage our social media strategy by engaging lead-generating content
  • Work collaboratively to plan and execute the Content Calendar, and leverage our content
  • Work collaboratively to leverage nationwide activities and showcase them on our platforms to increase online engagement
  • Build relationships with social media influencers and work closely with them to execute our influencer marketing strategy
  • Research audience preferences and discover current social trends to develop engaging text, image and video content for all social media platforms
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in all social platforms ensuring maximum effectiveness
  • Suggest new ways to attract prospective donors and engage the audience
  • Liaise with other departments to maintain consistent donor and stakeholder relations
  • Liaise with other departments to procure brand promotional materials and swag items
  • Occasionally assist Public Relations as part of the Crisis Comms Committee

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with experience/knowledge in marketing
  • Detail-oriented with an analytical approach to achieving objectives
  • Creative, energetic with the ability to multitask, and strong attention to detail
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, presentation skills, and analytical skills
  • Ability to maintain a high level of attention to detail and consistency in language and brand
  • Motivated self-starter who is able to take both guidance and initiative
  • Works well in a team with a collaborative lens
  • Bilingual/proficiency in French is an asset
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada
