Islamic Relief Canada to host event for the International Week for the Deaf

Islamic Relief Canada, in partnership with Global Deaf Muslims, is organizing an event for Muslims to become more aware of the experiences of hearing-impaired children within the Muslim community.

The event will take place on Saturday, September 21 (10:30 AM3:30 PM) at 77 Thompson Rd S, Milton, ON, L9T 6P7

The event will serve as an opportunity for both hearing and hearing-impaired Muslims, particularly children and youth, to work together on arts and crafts projects. It will also give them an opportunity to learn and practice American Sign Language (ASL). Parents, Islamic Relief Canada’s volunteers, and local politicians will also be participating.

According to the Hearing Foundation of Canada, an estimated one in ten Canadians is challenged by some form of hearing loss. The International Week for the Deaf has been observed since 1958.

Islamic Relief Canada is a registered charity in Canada and a prominent Muslim NGO which works in more than 30 countries and with people of all backgrounds to provide humanitarian relief and help build resilient, prosperous communities.
