Islamic Relief Canada staff to take part in food distribution at Barakah Food Bank

Islamic Relief Canada is organizing a staff visit to the Barakah Box Food Bank in Hamilton, Ontario on September 7, 2019. Local politicians have been invited to attend and take part in the distribution of food supplies to those in the local community who may need them.

The food bank will be set up at 1545 Stone Church Rd E, Hamilton, ON, L8W 3P8, and will begin serving the community at 9 AM

A 2017 report suggests that a family of four living in Hamilton has to spend over $700 per month on food. Unsurprisingly, over 17,000 people access the city’s food banks every month. Barakah Box, which is funded by Islamic Relief Canada in partnership with Mishka Social Services, is a food bank which provides culturally-sensitive services to over 400 families in the Hamilton community, on a weekly basis.

Islamic Relief Canada is a registered charity in Canada and a prominent Muslim NGO which works in more than 30 countries and with people of all backgrounds to provide humanitarian relief and build resilient, prosperous communities.
