Islamic Relief Canada to plant trees in Fort McMurray to help rejuvenate the environment

Islamic Relief Canada is organizing a tree-planting initiative in Fort McMurray, Alberta on the weekend of June 15-16, 2019. The objective of the project is to help rejuvenate the environment locally and to raise awareness about the far-reaching harmful effects of deforestation.

The tree-planting will take place at Saprae Creek Estates along Community Lane in the Wood Buffalo region. The charity will focus on areas which were affected by the 2016 Fort McMurray Wildfires.

The trees to be planted have been generously provided by the City of Edmonton, and Roots For Trees is helping coordinate the initiative.

Islamic Relief Canada is a registered charity in Canada and a prominent Muslim NGO which works in more than 30 countries and with people of all backgrounds to provide humanitarian relief and build resilient, prosperous communities.
