Islamic Relief Canada hosts Open House Ramadan meal for community and neighbours
May 30th 2018 –
The largest Muslim NGO in Canada, Islamic Relief, will open its doors on Friday for neighbours, friends and the community to celebrate Ramadan.
As part of its Ramadan activities, the charity will be hosting an Open House Iftar on Friday June 1st at its Head Office in Burlington, Ontario.
Members of the public as well as invited guests will get the chance to learn about Islamic Relief’s work as well as meet the staff and share a meal at sunset.
During Ramadan, Muslims are required to fast for thirty days from dawn until sunset. This is also the time of year when many Muslims give the 2.5% of their wealth to charity, as is required of them in Islam.
Reyhana Patel, Head of Public Relations, says:
“We wanted to open our doors to neighbours, friends, the Halton community and members of the Canadian public to share in our celebration of Ramadan. On Friday, the community will come together — people from all backgrounds and faiths — to break the fast at sunset.”
A short program will be delivered leading up to the sunset meal. Around 130 people are expected to attend, including Minister Karina Gould and MP Pam Damoff.

The program starts at 7:30 PM on Friday June 1st at 3501 Mainway, Burlington, ON
