Islamic Relief Gives Back During Holiday Season

img_0895Islamic Relief Canada visited a soup kitchen in Brampton over the holiday season to give out chocolates and cookies as part of its inter-faith work in building bridges across communities.

The Mayor of Brampton, Linda Jeffrey joined Islamic Relief team at Knights Table in Brampton to distribute the goodies as people were coming in to the kitchen for lunch.

CEO Zaid-al-Rawni says:

“Here at Islamic Relief Canada, we wanted to give back to the community during this special time for our neighbours.  Knights Table is an amazing organisation in Brampton which provides hot meals to the homeless.

We, as a Muslim charity, want to do everything we can to help the most vulnerable people in this country this Christmas, regardless of faith or background.

Helping those in need is one of the five pillars of Islam and as temperatures plummet we need to do everything we can to protect those most at risk.”
