Lead Researcher (Contract)

Islamic Relief Canada is currently recruiting for a Lead Researcher to carry out a national study on Violence against women and Girls in Canada.

Status: One Month Contract
Location: Remote
Department: Public Relations/Government Relations
Start Date: Immediate

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The candidate may be required to conduct the following tasks:
    • Prepare a research proposal
    • Conduct literature reviews
    • Collect and analyze data
    • Prepare materials for submission to granting agencies and foundations
    • Prepare interview questions
    • Recruit and/or interview subjects
    • Maintain accurate records of interviews, safeguarding the confidentiality of subjects, as necessary
    • Summarize interviews
    • Request or acquire equipment or supplies necessary for the project
    • Manage and respond to project related email
    • Prepare, maintain, and update website materials
    • Attend project meetings
    • Attend area seminars and other meetings as necessary
    • Summarize project results
    • Prepare progress reports for the PI and funding agency
    • Prepare other articles, reports, and presentations
    • Monitor the project budget

Qualifications and Requirements:

    • Minimum Qualifications:
      • PHD in area closely related with the study from a recognized Canadian institution
      • Academic and/or work experience related to the field of research.
      • Experience in developing research proposals and grants
    • Desired Qualifications:
      • Experience in managing research projects (both small and large-scale)
      • Experience in managing teams – ideally research teams
      • Fluency in French considered an asset
      • Experience working on projects funded by the Canadian Government, Institutions and/or private foundations
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada
