Web Designer

The Web Designer is responsible for maintaining and improving the user experience of the Islamic Relief Canada website.

Day-to-day operations include but are not limited to working with the team to update pages (design and content), adding plugins to enhance and meet organizational requirements, and come up with creative ways to engage potential donors while analyzing current data.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Working with our Content Developer to create and update pages with fresh content
  • Working with our Digital Marketing Coordinator and Graphic Designer to ensure the user experience is top notch
  • Creating new interactive pages for potential donors
  • Write well designed, testable, efficient code by using best software development practices
  • Create website layout/user interface by using standard HTML/CSS practices
  • Integrate data from various back-end services and databases
  • Gather and refine specifications and requirements based on technical needs
  • Create and maintain software documentation
  • Stay plugged into emerging technologies/industry trends and apply them into operations and activities
  • Work with our Graphic Designer to match visual design intent

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Post-Secondary Education
  • Proven working experience in web designing/developing
  • Top-notch programming skills and in-depth knowledge of modern HTML/CSS
  • Familiarity with at least one of the following programming languages preferred: PHP, ASP.NET, Javascript or Ruby on Rails
  • A solid understanding of how web applications work including security, session management, and best development practices
  • Hands-on experience with network diagnostics, network analytics tools
  • Basic knowledge of Search Engine Optimization process
  • Aggressive problem diagnosis and creative problem solving skills
  • High proficiency in English (oral and written)
  • Strong attention to detail required
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada
