Three years on, Gaza still needs you
A ceasefire was announced in October 2025. It has not brought peace. 1,358 Palestinians have been killed since, the blockade still keeps essential aid out, and at least 1.9 million people remain displaced, many facing another winter in tents that were never meant to last this long.
Three years have left more than 58,000 children without one or both parents. Not one of Gaza’s 37 hospitals is fully functioning, and 93% of schools are damaged or destroyed. An average of 165 aid trucks a day entered Gaza in May 2026, against the 600 a day that were agreed.
Islamic Relief has been there every single day, and has been operating in Palestine since 1997. Working alongside six local partners and the World Food Program, we are active in Gaza City, Khan Younis (Mawasi) and Deir Al Balah, including Zawayda and Nuseirat.

Isn’t there a ceasefire? Why does Gaza still need help?
A ceasefire was announced in October 2025, but it has not brought safety or recovery. More than 1,350 Palestinians have been killed since, the blockade remains, and far too little aid is allowed in: an average of 165 trucks a day entered in May 2026, against the 600 a day agreed. At least 1.9 million people are still displaced, not one hospital is fully functioning, and families face another winter in damaged tents. The world’s attention has moved on. The needs have not.
What is the point of donating if aid is not getting in?
Aid is getting in, though far below what is needed. Your donations let our teams keep navigating the obstacles and buying supplies locally. Any funds we cannot use right away go toward long term recovery and rebuilding, which is just as vital as emergency relief.
How is Islamic Relief delivering aid across Gaza?
Islamic Relief has been on the ground, operating in Palestine since 1997. Our staff in Gaza are using your donations to procure food, hygiene supplies, bedding, and any other essential item we can source locally or through private trading routes.
We have implemented thorough risk assessments, established communication with stakeholders, and devised contingency plans to address unexpected issues promptly.
In the past month alone, our team was able to provide life-saving essentials to camps and maternal care for pregnant women:
- Freshly cooked lentil soup, pasta, rice and potatoes for over 1,000 people
- Psychosocial support to 700 children
- Education classes for 1,800 displaced students, along with training for teachers

Islamic Relief has been working in Palestine since 1997. Our work in Gaza is focused on both emergency relief and development support, ensuring sustainable long-term programs that are transformative for the communities involved.
Some of our key projects over the past few years have included:
- Distributing emergency food packs and facilitating access to clean drinking water
- Creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for 755 farmer families by planting olive trees and providing essential tools for cultivation and irrigation
- Empowering orphans and vulnerable children through education and STEM

Gaza is the most dangerous place in the world to deliver aid: at least 595 humanitarian workers have been killed, 98% of them Palestinian.
