Afghanistan is currently undergoing a large-scale humanitarian crisis. Due to escalated tensions and ongoing political insecurity, families have been forced to flee their homes in search of safety.
Millions of Afghans are also struggling to put food on the table due to one of the worst droughts Afghanistan has seen. This has left 14 million people facing a food crisis and 9.5 million in a state of emergency.
Since July, over 17,000 displaced people have officially arrived in the capital Kabul, with similar situations in other major cities across Herat, Nangarhar, Balkh, and Kandahar. More than 550,000 people have been displaced in 2021 because of ongoing conflict.
Islamic Relief is on the ground and has initiated an emergency response.
