Your Guide to Giving Zakat with Confidence
Zakat is one of the five pillars of Islam and a fundamental act of worship. For every adult Muslim who possesses wealth above a certain amount, known as the Nisab, Zakat becomes due once that wealth has been held for one lunar year.
At Islamic Relief Canada, we know that giving your Zakat is more than a transaction. It is an act of worship rooted in trust, responsibility, and compassion. That is why we are committed to making the process of giving your Zakat as transparent and accessible as possible.
Through the resources below, you can calculate your Zakat, learn about the Nisab threshold, explore Zakat-eligible causes, and understand how Islamic Relief Canada manages and distributes Zakat in accordance with Islamic principles.

Fitrana (Zakat ul Fitr)
Fitrana, or Zakat ul Fitr, is a charitable donation that must be given before the Eid prayer, before the end of Ramadan, for the love of Allah (SWT). It is due on every self-supporting adult Muslim who has food beyond their needs, and can also be given on behalf of dependants. This year, Fitrana is $15 per person, helping provide food to those in need in time for Eid. Pay your Fitrana today and fulfil this important obligation before Ramadan ends.
