Always wanted to see how long you could grow your beard? Well here’s the chance to find out – while raising funds for a great cause!
This Ramadan, Islamic Relief Canada challenges you to join Beards for Barakah.
Starting on the first day of Ramadan, let your beard grow free and wild. Then when your delighted (or confused, depending on the state of your beard) family members start asking questions, tell them you’ve joined the Beards for Barakah challenge to raise money for Yemen – and let them know how they can help!
Winners will be drawn from three categories:
(1) Most Funds Raised
(2) Longest Beard
(3) Wackiest Beard
How Does it Work?
1. Join the challenge by creating a LaunchGood page.
2. Start growing your beard from the first day of Ramadan.
3. Invite your friends, family, coworkers, neighbours, ex-jummah buddies, cousins from the States and everyone else you can think of to help you win the challenge. You can start by sharing these graphics on your social media and tagging us:
5. The challenge ends on the last day of Ramadan. Make sure to take before and after photos! We’ll announce the winner on our social channels.
So what are you waiting for?!
The people of Yemen are suffering after 5 hard years of conflict, without access to basic needs like food, healthcare, and social services. Now, more than 80% of the population, 24.1 million people, require humanitarian assistance.
Currently, we have more than 3,000 staff and volunteers, supporting operations in over 70% of the country to deliver food, water, and medicine. Additionally, to help Yemen protect against Covid-19, we’re working with 160 health facilities to create isolation units, provide medical equipment and support for healthcare workers. This will be through the support of generous donors like you.
In the global pandemic we’re going through today, Islamic Relief Canada is doing everything we can to bring ease to our sisters and brothers in Yemen. Your donations through your efforts for Beards for Barakah will help make sure we can continue providing this aid.
Do I have to start clean shaven?
No. Just start with a before and after picture so we can see the progress. You may already have an enviable facial map going on – let’s see how much mightier you can make it. Remember the point is to start conversations.
How do I participate in the contest?
It’s easy, just share your pictures on social with the hashtag #BeardsForBarakah and tag us. But remember, only those participating in the challenge by signing up will be eligible to win. You can also send your pictures to us at [email protected].
What’s the prize?
Bragging rights and barakah. (Oh and a surprise package in the mail).
