The reality of hunger around the world

Imagine waking up every morning unsure where the next meal will come from. Going to bed hungry night after night. Watching your child cry because there is nothing left to eat.

Food is a basic necessity for survival and also the key to a healthy life. Without regular healthy meals children struggle to go to school, carers struggle to work, and communities are left battling to survive.

“He is not a believer who fills his stomach while his neighbour goes hungry.”The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ · Bukhari

Families around the world are going hungry every day. With your help, we can provide life-saving food across the Ummah.

Can you give food as Sadaqah?

Yes, you can give food as Sadaqah in Islam, if you do so for the sake of Allah. In Islam, feeding the hungry is a highly-rewarded act of worship.

What matters is purifying your intention when giving food. If done for the right reasons, you can earn great rewards for feeding yourself and others.

As well as giving food parcels to others, you can also gain the rewards of Sadaqah Jariyah by contributing to sustainable food sources which can benefit families for generations.

“What you feed yourself is Sadaqah for you. What you feed your child is Sadaqah for you. What you feed your wife is Sadaqah for you. What you feed your servant is Sadaqah for you.”The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ · Sahih al-Bukhari
