Urgent support needed for Gaza
Since October 2023, we have witnessed unimaginable death and destruction that has left the Gaza Strip in ruins, killing over 70,000 Palestinians, including 20,000 children, and forcibly displacing 1.9 million people.
Islamic Relief is on the ground right now and has been operating in Palestine since 1997.
Working alongside local partners and the World Food Program, we are presently active in the Middle Area including Deir Al Balah, Zawayda, and Al Nusairat, as well as Khan Younis, parts of Rafah, Gaza City, and North Gaza.
Every dollar you give means we can reach more civilian children, women and the elderly who continue to face hunger, poverty, trauma and loss.

Frequently asked questions
From the amount of funds spent in Palestine to date to a detailed list of our aid distribution, we have answers to your top questions about our emergency response in Gaza.
How is Islamic Relief delivering aid across Gaza?
Islamic Relief has been on the ground, operating in Palestine since 1997. Our staff in Gaza are using your donations to procure food, hygiene supplies, bedding, and any other essential item we can source locally or through private trading routes.
We have implemented thorough risk assessments, established communication with stakeholders, and devised contingency plans to address unexpected issues promptly.
In the past month alone, our team was able to provide life-saving essentials to camps and maternal care for pregnant women:
- Freshly cooked lentil soup, pasta, rice and potatoes for over 1,000 people
- Psychosocial support to 700 children
- Education classes for 1,800 displaced students, along with training for teachers
How your Zakat can help Gaza
Your Zakat can help deliver life-saving essentials to communities reeling from over two years of famine and genocide. The need on the ground is still at an all-time high, and entire communities require life-saving food, water, and medical care.
At Islamic Relief Canada, we follow a scholar-verified Zakat Policy to ensure your Zakat reaches as many vulnerable people as possible to transform their lives.
- $120 can deliver hot meals to 12 displaced people in Gaza
- $220 can provide maternal health services for a pregnant woman
- $575 can provide 2 trucks of water to reach 700 families
Every dollar you give means we can reach more civilian children, women and the elderly who continue to face hunger, poverty, trauma and loss.

Islamic Relief is ready to scale up efforts immediately once humanitarian access points and travel routes have been granted. Here is what we are ready to do:
- Continue emergency relief, distributing food, water and other vital aid
- Provide transitional shelters and basic household support for families
- Support children’s education with school supplies and kits
- Provide medical supplies and basic healthcare support
