September 16, 2026, Burlington, Ontario - Islamic Relief Canada is pleased to announce the appointment of Tufail Hussain as the organization’s permanent Chief Executive Officer. After serving as Interim CEO since August 2025, Tufail has officially assumed the permanent role, effective this week. 

Over the past year, Tufail has guided Islamic Relief Canada’s strategic direction, partnerships, programs, and advocacy, bringing more than two decades of experience in the charity sector and a strong track record in humanitarian leadership, strategic growth, and organizational development.

Tufail Hussain joined Islamic Relief Canada following his tenure as the Director of Islamic Relief UK from 2019 to 2025, where he oversaw fundraising, external relations, and domestic programs and helped guide the organization through a period of significant growth, including substantial increases in income amid rising global humanitarian needs.
