Their Healing Starts with You

In the face of the most catastrophic destruction and humanitarian crisis to date in Gaza, children are paying the heaviest price.

Nearly half of Gaza’s population are children, with over 450,000 currently displaced and left without a home. Nearly 40,000 Palestinian children have been orphaned and no longer have the emotional or financial support to survive, let alone thrive.

But your donation can make a difference.

Just $30 can provide them with the tools, fun activities, and knowledge to begin healing from their trauma. Help us bring healing to over 100,000 children in Palestine and Egypt by supporting our work with Big Bad Boo.

About Big Bad Boo

Education Through Entertainment

Big Bad Boo is a world leading education and entertainment company that uses cartoons and cartoon-based programs to teach children social emotional skills. Their shows are broadcast in over 100 countries and in 40 different languages

Big Bad Boo shows teach environmental science, literacy, and numeracy amongst other topics.  To date, Big Bad Boo’s entertainment has been used in schools by over 3 million children in 15 countries.

As one of Big Bad Boo’s international partners, Islamic Relief Canada is providing psychosocial support and education to 30,000 vulnerable refugees and internally displaced children in Palestine and Egypt. By supporting our work, you can help children begin their healing journey today

Psychosocial support is a continuum of care and support that addresses a person's emotional, social, mental, and spiritual needs. It aims to strengthen resilience and support recovery from trauma and hardship.

During times of immense catastrophe like we are currently witnessing in Gaza, where millions have lost their homes, livelihoods, and loved ones — this takes a significant toll on their well-being.

According to UNICEF, every single child in Gaza needs mental health and psychosocial support. Read that again.

Psychosocial support can give people a sense of belonging and control of their lives by providing activities, tools, and knowledge to better cope in times of disaster. It can also help children create or strengthen bonds with their family, friends, and community.

Yes. Islamic Relief includes psychosocial support in most of our emergency responses, alongside regularly prioritizing it as part of our long-term development projects.

Project Highlight

In the past, our Empowering Orphans and Vulnerable Children project in Palestine provided children with social care, tailored education, integrated support services, and character-building sessions to develop healthy habits. It worked to empower 400 youth through technical, social, and economic support.

Our programming focused on establishing education centers where recreational activities took place including art, science, multimedia, and sports clubs, as well as providing staff with the resources and training to conduct psychosocial support activities and group counselling.

This led to:

  • 344 youth noticed a drastic improvement in their talents and well-being after joining our project
  • 86% of youth expressed their satisfaction with the quality of services provided by this project

Ongoing Work in Gaza

We are currently working with six local partners in Gaza and have provided psychosocial support to over 100,500 children and 500 women to date since October 2023.

Our partnership with Big Bad Boo aims to continue this work, focusing on Palestinian refugees and internally displaced communities across Palestine and Egypt. The 1001 Nights Civic and Peace Education Program will be readily shared with these children.
