By donating to our overhead fund, 100% of your contribution goes towards strengthening the backbone of Islamic Relief.
This includes:
- Staff training and development to ensure effective programme delivery
- Governance costs, including accounting and auditing, to maintain legal and regulatory compliance
- Protecting the data of our supporters and rightsholders through robust security systems
- Safeguarding measures to protect the people we serve and ensure aid reaches them with dignity
- Technology and systems, including IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, CRM platforms, and website hosting and maintenance

The Overhead Fund supports the vital behind-the-scenes functions that allow Islamic Relief Canada to operate effectively. From maintaining secure financial systems and ethical compliance to recruiting skilled field teams and delivering aid efficiently, these “overhead” costs are what make real impact possible.
It supports the essential but often unseen work that ensures your donations reach those who need them most.
While a small portion of all donations helps cover core costs, these are not always enough to sustain our growing operations. The Admin Fund provides stability - helping us improve systems, plan strategically, and respond faster when emergencies strike.
No, the Admin Fund is not Zakat-eligible. It supports operational expenses that help us deliver your Zakat and Sadaqah with integrity and efficiency.
We undergo regular external audits, comply fully with Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) standards, and are part of international accountability networks. Our admin systems are what makes this possible.
