Dua for Qurbani

Qurbani, the annual sacrifice made by Muslims worldwide is performed according to Qurbani rules and includes the mandatory recitation of a dua for Qurbani. The dua for Qurbani needs to be recited when performing the Qurbani sacrifice, before the slaughter of the animal.

What is a Dua for Qurbani

Traditionally Muslims recite “Bismillah Allahu Akbar” when slaughtering an animal. During Dhul Hijjah, the season for Qurbani, animal sacrifices are done to reflect the Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son Ismail, for the sake of God.

During this time, Muslims must abide by particular Qurbani rules and recite a dua for Qurbani, alongside the standard dua. The dua for Qurbani is done in conjunction with a Qurbani ki niyat, or also known as the intention for Qurbani.

Significance of Dua for Qurbani

The dua for Qurbani is significant because it differentiates Qurbani sacrifices, a virtuous act performed by all capable Muslims, from any other animal slaughtering.

The dua for Qurbani must be recited before slaughtering the animal to ensure the Qurbani is done in a permissible manner and in accordance with Islamic rulings. As it’s done during the blessed days of Eid, the sacrifice should be done in accordance with Islamic ruling to reap the rewards of it.
