Islamic Relief Canada Preparing 200 Food Baskets and Hot Meals for Montreal Homeless
Montreal, QC - Islamic Relief Canada, in partnership with Al-Madinah Center and Sister Sabria Foundation, will assemble 200 food baskets as well as prepare hot meals this Saturday for the city’s homeless and vulnerable populations.

The food baskets will contain items such as rice, pasta, cookies, beans and dates while the prepared hot meal will be pasta and meatballs.

“It’s been a challenging few years because of the pandemic and rising grocery costs, so many families have struggled to put food on the table,” says Reyhana Patel, Director of communications and government relations at Islamic Relief Canada. “We need to support them in every way we can. The hope is that these food baskets will help provide some relief in difficult times.”

**Media members are invited to attend both the preparation of warm meals for the homeless and the assembly of food baskets on Saturday, March 19 from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 3 to 7 p.m. at Sister Sabria Foundation (5271 Rue St-Hubert, Montreal) respectively. An Islamic Relief Canada spokesperson will be available for interviews.**

The food baskets will be given to volunteers, who will distribute them to families and individuals in need, including the unhoused, newcomers, refugees and students.

200 meals will be provided this weekend to those in need and a total of 1,200 food baskets will be assembled and distributed by Islamic Relief Canada’s Montreal team in the next four months.
